If you’ve been to a TEDxUofT event before, you might notice that the ticketing system this year is a little different. We strive to keep ticket prices as low as we can to make our events accessible to as many people as possible. So for TEDxUofT 2019: Spectrum, we have decided to keep ticket prices the same as last year’s event with early bird and general admission tickets. When purchasing your tickets, there are a few things to note:
Tickets will not be delivered by email. When you purchase a ticket, your name will be assigned to it. You will receive an email with a confirmation number, and you will use that confirmation number and photo ID to pick up your tickets at registration on conference day.
You can buy up to 4 tickets per transaction. If you are buying multiple, make sure to list all the names in the order form. You must all arrive together on conference day in order to pick up your tickets together.
Tickets are non-transferable and non-refundable, as the name of the attendee on the ticket cannot be changed. Photo ID will be checked upon entry to the conference, and if the name on the ticket doesn’t match your name, you will not be able to pick up your ticket and will not be admitted.
Please do not buy a ticket from anywhere other than the Universe.com platform or the St Lawrence Centre box office. We are unable to accept transferred tickets and unfortunately you will not be admitted to the event.
Q: What’s included in the ticket price?
A: TEDxUofT is a non-profit organisation run by student volunteers. The ticket price is solely to cover the cost of the event.
Early Bird Ticket: $49.00 goes to TEDxUofT, there is a $3.39 facility fee that goes to the venue and a Universe handling fee of $6.25.
General Admission Ticket: $55.00 goes to TEDxUofT, there is a $3.39 facility fee that goes to the venue and a Universe handling fee of $8.00.
Pricing and fees are non-negotiable.
If you wish to avoid the Universe service fees entirely, you can buy your ticket at the St Lawrence Centre box office (27 Front Street E.) ahead of time in person! You will not be charged the service fees in this case. We would recommend you buy ahead of time, since we expect to sell out - it is highly unlikely that there will be tickets available on conference day.
Q: Is there a student ticket?
A: No, but we are selling early bird tickets to our mailing list subscribers.
TEDxUofT is a non-profit organisation, all the team members, speakers and performers are volunteers. The revenue from ticket sales is solely used for running the event (venue, catering, amenities etc.). We acknowledge that TEDxUofT has a large student population in attendance and our main logistical goal is always to keep costs as low as possible. However, since most of our attendees are students, selling discounted student tickets would put us at a loss and render us unable to produce the event. Q: Why is TEDxUofT using the Universe.com platform?
A: The venue has an exclusive agreement with Universe, so all events held at the St Lawrence Centre must sell tickets via the Universe platform. Again, if you wish to avoid the Universe service fees entirely, you can buy your ticket in person at the St Lawrence Centre box office (27 Front Street E.)! You will not be charged the service fee in this case. We would recommend you buy ahead of time, since we expect to sell out - it is unlikely that there will be tickets available on conference day.
Q: Why is TEDxUofT happening off-campus if an on-campus venue would avoid Universe (and its associated fees)?
A: We are using the St Lawrence Centre because it is a larger venue than any viable options on campus, and can accommodate the demand for tickets as well as our attendees during the intermissions.
Q: I can’t make it to the conference any more! How can I get a refund?
A: Unfortunately we are unable to provide refunds for tickets to TEDxUofT 2019: Spectrum.
